Abigail Torres Rico is a Texas native and a Ph.D. graduate (2023) from the University of Texas at Arlington. She currently holds a tenure-track Assistant Professor position at Midwestern State University. Additionally, she holds a Masters of Science in Marketing Research from the University of Texas at Arlington (2018) and a B.B.A. with a specialization in Marketing and Communications (2015) from the prestigious University of Texas at Austin.
RESEARCH:
Dr. Torres's research interests focus on the intersection of services, technology (including self-service and AI), front-line employees, and customer interactions. Her dissertation research explores the impact of self-service technology on front-line employees and their interactions with consumers. This work is currently being developed for submission to the Journal of Service Marketing, where she aims to contribute significant insights to the field. Additionally, she has published in the European Journal of Marketing and has presented her work at prestigious conferences such as the American Marketing Association, Society for Marketing Advances and the Society for Consumer Psychology.
TEACHING:
Dr. Torres has a diverse teaching portfolio, having taught various courses in multiple formats, including face-to-face, hybrid, and online, for both undergraduate and graduate students. She has collaborated with other professors on courses such as Professional Selling, Integrated Marketing Communication (both online and in-person), and Service Marketing Management (GRAD). As an independent instructor, she has successfully developed and taught courses such as Principles of Marketing, Buyer Behavior, Multicultural Marketing, and Marketing Management at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
