Alyssa Ham (nee Kozlowski) is a collaborative pianist with an extensive background in jazz piano. She received her BA in Jazz Piano Performance and MM in Collaborative Piano from the University of Central Oklahoma. From 2011-2017, Alyssa was the pianist for UCO's award-winning Jazz Ensemble I, who were recognized by Downbeat Magazine in 2012 as the best undergraduate collegiate jazz ensemble in the United States. During this time, she had the opportunity to share the stage with legendary jazz musicians Kenny Garrett, Delfayo Marselius and Bob Mintzer. Alyssa's academic achievements were recognized through scholarships and awards. She was the recipient of the Kent Kidwell and Lee Rucker Endowed Jazz Scholarship in 2014, the Musical Ambassador award in 2016, and was nominated as the Outstanding Graduate Music Student in 2019.
Alyssa has worked as a professional musician since she was seventeen years old. Her experience includes performing for weddings, corporate events, and collaborative recitals, as well as teaching private piano lessons and arranging music. Some of her most notable professional experiences include performing with the Edmond Jazz Orchestra and the Oklahoma City Jazz Orchestra. She was also selected as the jazz pianist for the movie soundtracks to Te Ata (2016) and Starbright (2017).
Since 2019, Alyssa has worked as an adjunct instructor of music at Midwestern State University. She is vocal coach and private piano instructor, specializing in jazz piano. Alyssa is also employed by Wichita Falls Independent School District as a collaborative pianist for Barwise Middle School, S.H. Rider High School, and Hirschi High School. Since 2020, Alyssa has served as the church pianist and choir accompanist for New Hope Presbyterian Church. In her free time, Alyssa enjoys composing music and spending time with her friends and family.
