Dr. Amy Thiemann is a flutist, passionate educator, and avid chamber musician based in Fort Worth, Texas. She performs with the Sherman Symphony, Wichita Falls Symphony Orchestra, and the Madera Wind Quintet, and is on the faculty at Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas, where she maintains a growing flute studio and teaches music appreciation.
An enthusiastic soloist, Amy has given guest artist recitals at colleges and music festivals throughout the country, most recently in California, Texas, Wisconsin and Nebraska. Also an experienced orchestral performer, she has appeared with the Abilene Philharmonic, Lone Star Wind Orchestra, Omaha Symphony Orchestra, and Texarkana Symphony Orchestra. Amy is a passionate advocate of chamber music and performs frequently as flutist with the Madera Wind Quintet.
Prior to her appointment at Midwestern State, Amy served as Instructor of Flute at Concordia University (Nebraska), teaching fellow at the University of North Texas and teaching assistant at Ithaca College. She directed the Ithaca College Flute Ensemble and University of North Texas Flute Ensemble.
Amy earned degrees in flute performance from University of North Texas (DMA), Ithaca College (MM), and Hastings College (BM). Her primary teachers include Terri Sundberg, Maria Harding, Wendy Mehne, and Deborah Johnson.
