Bio

John Vowell is an Instructor of Management Information Systems (MIS) and the Technology Manager at MSU Texas, Dillard College of Business Administration. He earned two Bachelor of Science degrees in Statistics and Accounting from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. He went on to earn a Master's degree in Business Administration and Decision Sciences from the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas.

He spent several years in the aerospace industry, holding executive positions in data analytics, engineering, and continuous improvement before transitioning to an MSU Texas faculty position. He also has consulted on a variety of projects in the industry and within the MSU community.

This experience provides him the foundation to teach students relevant computer applications commonly used in the workplace for data analytics and problem-solving such as Microsoft 365, Microsoft Excel, and statistical applications like SPSS and SAS. As a result, students who complete these courses gain the computing skills necessary to help them be successful in their academic endeavors and entry into the workplace.

He enjoys working on information technology projects, watching Southeastern Conference (SEC) football, going to the movies, spending time with his family, and attending church.
