Ms. Laussmann was born on Guam and has resided around the world. Though her studies began in accounting, she quickly found her passion was in writing and earned both a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts in English at Midwestern State University. Now an academic counselor for McCoy College of Science, Mathematics, and Engineering, Ms. Laussmann is happiest when getting to know about her advisees' interests and goals, and how they will make a positive contribution to society.
Following MSU's mission to empower students and encourage lifelong learning, Ms. Laussmann reminds students that they have what it takes to succeed and learning never ends. "Students are capable of rising up to challenges and using those challenges to develop character, sharpen problem-solving skills and build inner strength."
Ms. Laussmann continues conducting research in ecocriticism and writing poetry. She has won awards for her work in academia and in creative writing, and has been published in various journals online and in print.
