Bio

Dr. Phillis Bunch earned her Bachelor of Arts with a concentration in Music from Midwestern State University in 2010. She went on to teach K-12 music at Burkburnett ISD. After moving to the DFW area, Dr. Bunch taught elementary music at Aledo ISD and began her Master of Music Education degree at Tarleton State University. She was chosen to deliver the Graduate School commencement address in 2017 and began working as an adjunct music educator for Tarleton where she taught Music Appreciation and American Popular Music. Dr. Bunch completed her Doctor of Education degree in 2021. As the Doctoral Research Fellow for Tarleton State University, Dr. Bunch had the opportunity to work across campus on many research projects. Her main focus was recruiting and retention; however, she never moved far from her love of music.

Following graduation from Tarleton in 2021, Dr. Bunch moved back to the Wichita Falls area to begin her work in the University learning center as the Assistant Director of Tutoring and Academic Support Programs (TASP). She currently serves as the Senior Associate Director of TASP and enjoys her continued work with the music department as adjunct music faculty. She loves her work with students in both roles and looks forward to a long career helping students reach their full potential.

Dr. Bunch's research interests include: Self-Efficacy, American Popular Music, Recruiting, Retention, Learning Center Practices, and Student Success
