Since joining academia 29 years ago, she has transitioned from research and educational outreach at a NASA Minority University Research Center at the University of Texas at El Paso to teaching Geosciences and Environmental Science at undergraduate and graduate levels. She has been teaching the uses of satellite imagery for resource exploration and environmental management applications ever since. She is currently an Emeritus and Adjunct Geology and Environmental Science Associate Professor at Midwestern State University. In addition, she is deeply committed to training and educating future science teachers in geosciences, earth system science, and environmental observation techniques, and uses art as a gateway to excite students about Earth Observations. She has also served as President of AAPGâs Division of Environmental Science and Energy Minerals Division, and in the AAPG House of Delegates for 9 years, representing the Georgia Geological Society. She was the Vice President (Sections) for AAPG from 2022 â 2024.
