Bio

Dr. Kim is originally from the Dallas area and has lived in Lubbock since 2008. She has three degrees from Texas Tech University: B.A in Psychology, M.Ed in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, & a Ph.D. in Counselor Education with a minor in Higher Education. Her research focus was on Combat Veterans in the Community College system. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and the Director of Forensic Mental Health for StarCare Specialty Health System (LMHA). As the Director she oversees: The Psychiatric Care Team at the Lubbock County Detention Center, Competency Restoration (JBCR/OCR), law enforcement relations and is a mental health liaison/crisis counselor for LPD & LSO as well as a TCOLE-certified instructor. Dr. Kim enlisted in 2011 in the Texas Army National Guard with GCo. 949 BSB as an 88M. She was assigned to an ammo squad until accepting her E6 with 1836th in 2019 out of El Paso. After her most recent deployment, she was pinned as Staff Sergeant and continues to serve with 1836th where she was also deployed to the Texas/Mexico border in support of Operation Lone Star for 13 months.
