Dr. Sarah Kim is a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor (LPC-S) and serves as the Director of Forensic Mental Health at StarCare, Lubbockâs Local Mental Health Authority. She and her team provide comprehensive mental health services at the Lubbock County Detention Center (LCDC), where she has overseen psychiatric care for nearly nine years. Her leadership spans a wide range of initiatives, including medication management, education, suicide prevention, mental health screening, special needs housing, compelled medications, competency restoration, and 16.22 processes. She also serves as a liaison to law enforcement and is a certified TCOLE instructor for mental health courses.
In addition to her role at StarCare, Dr. Kim is a Sergeant First Class in the Texas Army National Guard. Her most recent assignment included a deployment to the Texas border in Eagle Pass from November 2021 to January 2023, alongside multiple other stateside and overseas missions.
Outside of her professional roles, Dr. Kim is married to her best friend- whom she met during military service- and together they are raising a lively toddler and three wonderful bonus children.
