Liz is a theatre educator and director with over twenty years of experience in theatre pedagogy, directing, and performance. She received an MFA in Theatre Education and Applied Theatre at Emerson College in 2025.
Lizâs directing experience spans a wide range of ages and skill levels, including professional adult productions, youth theatre in educational settings, and creative workshops for young children. Her teaching and directing practice draws from the methodologies of Stanislavski, Viewpoints, Laban, Rasaboxes, Lecoq, and Francis Hodgeâs textual analysis for actors and directors.
Liz has taught middle and high school theatre in public education throughout the greater Salt Lake City and Las Vegas areas. Liz served as a mentor and facilitator for the International Thespian Society and was a founding member of a statewide coalition of theatre educators in Utah.
An award-winning teacher and director, Liz has received multiple recognitions from community and state-level competitions. She is currently a member of the American Alliance for Theatre & Education (AATE) and the Association for Theatre in Higher Education (ATHE). She served on the Advisory Board for the American Alliance for Theatre & Education, contributing to the planning and facilitation of the Spring 2025 Symposium.
Lizâs research focuses on integrating community engagement and applied theatre for social change, drawing from the work of Viola Spolin, Michael Rohd, Theatre of the Oppressed, documentary theatre, and other devised theatre practices. Her creative work bridges traditional theatre education and drama pedagogy with applied theatre practices to promote creativity, empathy, and civic engagementâ particularly within underserved communities.
