Bio

Professor Tilker, a native of Wyoming, earned his Doctor of Jurisprudence from the Texas Tech School of Law. Following law school, Professor Tilker prosecuted felony cases as an assistant district attorney for one year before becoming general counsel to a group of oil and gas and real estate investors. He joined Dillard College in 1989. He is the Dillard College Professor of Legal Studies and a pre-law student advisor.

He teaches Legal and Ethical Environment of Law, Commercial Law, Business Ethics and Energy Law in the MBA program. Professor Tilker focuses his research on Alternative Dispute Resolution with an emphasis on mediation.

Professor Tilker's community service has included serving on the board of directors of Crime Stoppers, Wichita County Bar Association, Drug Free North Texas, and Faith Mission. In addition to board service, he served as president of Crime Stoppers for two years and of the Wichita County Bar Association for a year.

Teaching awards he has received include: Phi Chi Theta Professor of the Year (1992), Alpha Chi Outstanding Lecturer (1994), Mortar Board Professor of the Year (2001), Student Government Association Faculty Member of the Year (2018) and Dillard College Outstanding Professor Award, (2023).
