Bio

I am a dedicated nursing professional and educator with over two decades of combined clinical, academic, and leadership experience. Currently I serve as an Assistant Professor at Midwestern State University, where I teaches and mentors future nurses while contributing to faculty committees and professional organizations.

My educational accomplishments includes, but not limited to a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from Walden University, a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Oklahoma, and additional certifications in content area instruction, online teaching, and critical care. My clinical background includes clinical experience in intensive care nursing, neuro-neurosurgical nursing, medical -surgical nursing, geriatric nursing, and veteran-focused healthcare.

In academia, I have held progressive leadership roles, including Director of Nursing Education and Online Program Coordinator at Western Oklahoma State College, where she guided curriculum design, accreditation, and student success initiatives. I am highly skilled in both traditional and online learning environments, with expertise in platforms such as Canvas, Blackboard, Desire to learn, and MOODLE.

As a U.S. Army veteran, Dr. Machado has received recognition for excellence and service, including the Army Commendation Medal and Outstanding Clinical Student Award. My research includes work on reducing hospital readmission rates in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. I am an active member of the American Nurses Association, the Oklahoma Nurses Association, American Association of Critical Care Nurses, the American Association of Colleges of Nursing, and Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing and the International Golden Key Honour Society.

I am very passionate about advancing nursing education and patient care, and strives to combine both my clinical expertise, academic leadership, and a commitment to lifelong learning to inspire and prepare the next generation of nurses.
