Dennis Cavitt, Ed.D. is an assistant professor of Special Education in the West College of Education at Midwestern State University, Wichita Falls, Texas, where he teaches special education in both graduate and undergraduate programs. Dr. Cavitt has over 38 years of experience in Special Education where he worked as a Licensed Specialist in School Psychology and Special Programs administrator in public schools, Dr. Cavitt is active in the Council for Exceptional Children where he was the Texas CEC and is the 2021 President of the International CEC.
His research interests include:
- The Development of an Attitude of Hospitality Regarding Students with Disabilities with Preservice Teachers.
- Executive Skills Training with Students with High-Incidence Disabilities. Self-Determination Training for Students with High-Incidence Disabilities.
- Using Functional Behavioral Assessment with Nondisabled Students Who Engage in Disruptive Classroom Behaviors.
Dr. Cavitt, enjoys reading and collecting books, loves to barbecue, and especially spending time with family.
