Dr. Andrea Bennett teaches the business and marketing core courses of Principles of Marketing, Marketing Strategy, Marketing Research in addition to various digital marketing and prosocial marketing courses. She earned her Ph.D. in marketing, specializing in consumer behavior, from the University of North Texas in 2020; her Master's in Public Administration, specializing in nonprofit management, from Georgia Southern University in 2015; and her bachelor of arts in communications, specializing in public relations, from Augusta University in 2008.
In speaking about her subject matter, Dr. Bennett says that "Marketing is as much of an art as it is a behavioral science, which allows us to think and talk about it in a ton of different ways. There is an element of marketing to everything businesses -- and to a lesser extent, nonprofits, governments, and even individuals -- do. So, there is always something new or relevant going on in the world that relates to marketing, which keeps it interesting."
Dr. Bennett says that the best part of teaching is engaging with and learning from her students.
"I, of course, am responsible for teaching the content of the course, but I encourage students to think critically about and share their own experiences with the topics that we are discussing," she says. "Students are also almost always more knowledgeable about current products and trends than I am, so I enjoy learning from them, too."
Originally from southern Georgia, she moved to Texas in 2016 to attend the University of North Texas. She enjoys cooking, gardening, watching documentaries, listening to podcasts, and going to the gym. A first-generation college student, Dr. Bennett began taking college courses at age 16 through her high school's dual-enrollment program. She has been in university classrooms -- with a couple of brief hiatuses -- ever since.
